Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has launched a wildlife preservation charity designed to protect endangered tigers. Working together with the World Wildlife Foundation in a campaign called Save Tigers Now, the plan is to double the number of wild tigers by the next Year of the Tiger in 2022.
DiCaprio hopes to raise $20 million to help strengthen current projects to save tiger habitats, support anti-poaching efforts and encourage governments to ensure the future of tigers worldwide. In a press release, DiCaprio stated, “Tigers are endangered and critical to some of the world’s most important ecosystems. Key conservation efforts can save the tiger species from extinction, protect some of the planet’s last wild habitats and help sustain the local communities surrounding them,”
DiCaprio is currently in Asia with the WWF to learn more about the tigers, and how to save them. For more information visit Save the Tigers.
