Holland America Line is set to partner with Marine Conservation Biology Institute (MCBI) to adopt a new sustainable program. The “Our Marvelous Oceans” program is aimed at promoting sustainable and compatible use of the oceans to protect the world’s marine ecosystems.
Under a three-year agreement, it will see the cruise line adopt a “Signature of Sustainability” seafood program, which implements sustainable seafood purchasing onboard. Guests will also be provided with a new program on board in summer this year, with a video program series to air on all ships and individual programs to introduce ocean issues and highlight important marine conservation topics that relate to the ships’ itineraries.
The cruise line will also support the MCBI education program by funding the Mia J. Tegner Memorial Research Grants given to graduate students and young scientists in historical marine ecology.
