The women’s owned travel company Travel Towards Wellness, is offering unique journeys to women cancer survivors. Established in 2010, founder Nancy Parker has 25 years experience planning group meetings, events and travel for Fortune 500 companies. She says the trips are designed to empower women who have been touched by cancer. Parker, who is a breast cancer survivor herself says, “Surviving cancer is cause for celebration, self discovery and renewal. No one knows better than a cancer survivor that ‘life happens now.’ The right kind of travel experience can be life-affirming and therapeutic.”

The Travel Towards Wellness trips are held throughout the US and overseas and the company invites female cancer survivors, co-survivors, support groups, family members and friends to participate. Parker says while the trips are an opportunity for the women to spend time with their loved ones and form new friendships with others who have gone through the same struggles, they also address the physical and emotional challenges women cancer survivors face.

Parker’s trips include everything from Spa Retreats (working only with those spas that cater to survivors’ needs and have staff certified to work with cancer patients) and Cuisine and Culture to Shopping Therapy and custom programs.  Highlights for 2010 include an Oasis By The Bay Spa Retreat at Cavallo Point in the San Francisco Bay area from September 12-16 and Shop Around Tuscany from October 9-16. Participants with a taste for Italy’s finest, such as Prada and Fendi, will be taken to designer outlets throughout the region.
